About Me

Just a Little Background..

When people ask me what my best travel experience is, it is hard for me to give an answer.

So many places were so mind blowing on so many levels. Living in place like Australia allows you to experience beauty right at your doorstep, which I have had the privilege of exploring quite a bit.

I’ve had the privilege to travel far and wide from self-drive holidays throughout Europe, sailing the Mediterranean, staying at some of the most exclusive resorts throughout the world, trekking mountains to camping in the desert.

I try to never lose track of how lucky I am that my travels have me to extraordinary locations, experiences and people. Never has this been more in focus than during my first trip overseas to my ancestral home of Egypt, without a doubt it stands alone as the most incredible, breathtaking travel experience of my life. Luxor, often called the world’s greatest open-air museum, but that comes nowhere near describing this extraordinary place. From the temples of Karnak and Luxor in the east to the many tombs and temples on the west bank. To say that there is truly nothing like it in the world would be an understatement.

Where it all began...

It was on this round the world trip in 1996 which took me to Italy, U.K., U.S and Jamaica that set me on a conquest to seek, feel, taste and meet all the world has to offer [list of some of the places I’ve been listed below]. I have never been one to book tours, I prefer to set my own itinerary and move to the beat of my own drum. I did however on my first trip to Egypt and China book tours, and don’t get me wrong – I don’t have a glass jaw. I’ve been told to eff off in Rome, scammed in Paris, gotten into a very difficult situation with some thugs in Naples, been physically and verbally harassed in Asia and had racial slurs yelled at me in America.

Egypt and China was by far the best travel decisions I could have made, because both these destinations are not an “easy” destination to visit by any means, well without showing my age, there was no technology a such to get you around or translate like today.

But if I've learned anything from traveling the world, it's that the news media makes most places sound a lot scarier than they actually are.Egypt happens to be one of those places, I know this through the endless conversations I’ve had with people when they learn about my background. Conversation generally goes something like

“I would LOVE to go to Egypt it’s the top of my bucket list, is Egypt Safe??"

The thing that saddens me when I’m having these conversations, is that this person most likely won’t have the chance to experience the magic Egypt has to offer!

It will just sit at the top of that bucket list and that never really sat right with me!
Or on the other hand I would be having conversations like;

"OMG Egypt was amazing, the archaeological treasures were mind-blowing, but our trip to Egypt was one of the most trying and exhausting weeks. I did boatloads of research, looked at travel tips, there were certain elements about traveling to Egypt that the research simply didn’t and couldn’t prepare me for”.

The fact is,This is Egypt, it is just one of those places where knowing a local would end up being a totally different experience.

Which was the catalyst for my next business venture BTS [Botros Travel Solutions], a travel and transportation business est. 2018 that allow me to showcase not only what Egypt has to offer but my hometown of Melbourne and the broader region of Victoria.

About BTS

BTS facilitates ground transportation needs for both corporate and private clients, as well as bespoke itineraries to meet our clients needs. Like our most recent trip in March to Pt. Leo Estate with Peter West. MD at Coca-Cola Amatil, which included a Helicopter flight down to Pt. Leo Estate and a drive back in our fleet of prestigious cars.

I have used my years of experience to put together some bespoke itineraries that would make for memorable travel experiences. BTS has enlisted some of the industries best and well regarded talents, from the ticketing agent who will process your booking, to the Egyptologist explaining the meaning of the ancient hieroglyphics.
